dentalflosswhiteHow are you doing with your daily dental flossing? Is this more of a novelty and less of a daily habit? Whatever is currently going on with your flossing, we are here to provide you with a quick check-in, so you are reminded of the frequency required and the best way to choose this essential product for your dental hygiene. Remember, if you are still left with some questions regarding the details of your hygiene sessions, your next visit is a wonderful time to let us know – we will be glad to offer answers and live demonstrations!

Flossing Frequency

You should be flossing your teeth at least once every day as a part of your dental hygiene routine. You may floss more frequently if you wish. However, flossing more than twice daily is not necessary (of course, unless food becomes lodged between teeth – in this case, a quick pass of the dental floss should remove the debris).

Flossing Choices

Choose dental floss that works for your particular preferences. If you dislike flavored floss, choose unflavored. If you like cinnamon or mint, choose accordingly. Also pay attention to texture. Waxed is beneficial if your teeth are close together but not necessary if your teeth offer adequate space. For sensitivity issues, simply look for floss formulated for “sensitive gums” which is generally composed of softer fibers and may include a bit of wax. In addition, it’s always wise to locate the ADA Seal of Acceptance on the package for your floss, so you can feel certain you’re choosing a reliable product for your dental hygiene.
