tipsrainbowAs you know, brushing your teeth is the cornerstone of a healthy smile! While keeping up with flossing and your preventive care visits are also absolutely essential when it comes to protecting your oral health, it’s important to recognize something: If you’re not brushing your best, your dental hygiene is not going to offer the protection you want from your daily care. Lucky for you, we would like to provide you with some extremely helpful (and equally easy to practice) tips that will ensure your brushing is effective.

Tip #1: Commit To Consistency

Regardless of your exceptional technique and amazing products, if you’re not consistent with your brushing habits, your dental hygiene will not keep your smile clean and healthy. Keep the following in mind:

  • You should be brushing your teeth at least two times a day – first in the morning and then again before you get into bed
  • You should brush your teeth for a session lasting two minutes when you brush – otherwise, you may not be getting your teeth clean enough

Tip #2: Only Use Soft Bristles

If you use a toothbrush with bristles that are too firm, you may end up harming the outermost tissue layer of your teeth (called enamel). You may also irritate and damage your gum tissue and experience sensitivity. Simply remember to choose soft bristles when you purchase a toothbrush for your dental hygiene. The soft bristles combined with gentle pressure as you brush will effectively and safely clear away plaque and food particles.

Tip #3: Clean Every Last Surface

Clean every single accessible surface of your teeth for the greatest protection against oral health problems like tooth decay.
