A Visit Every Six-Months
How often should someone see the dentist for an exam and a dental cleaning? The American Dental association (ADA) suggests one about once every six months, and we agree. However, sometimes people may have high risk factors for gum disease, at which point a visit every three to four months may be necessary. During the visit, we will visually examine your smile, and also use advanced technology (as we will discuss further in the next section). We want to watch for the early warning signs of common issues like tooth decay, dental infection or abscess, gingivitis, gum disease, and even TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). Our team will also screen for oral cancer for adults!
Digital X-Rays
To obtain a clear and detailed picture of your smile, we employ digital x-rays. These use up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays, and don’t need to be developed in chemicals, making them safer for the environment too. The images will be available right away chairside, so we can walk you through the diagnostic process and provide a thorough assessment of your smile with precision and accuracy. We can then easily send these images to specialist if necessary.
Kids Visits
Children also need routine visits too, as they are also susceptible to tooth decay, and older children could be at risk of developing gingivitis. We also watch for indicators that your child may need treatment for developing misalignment. Not only do we have a chance to address poor oral health, we can educate children on their oral health and the steps necessary to keep teeth and gums strong. Routine visits also help reduce dental anxiety, and instill good dental habits that often carry on onto adulthood. We also provide preventive treatments to help reduce the risk of tooth decay, such as fluoride treatments and dental sealants. If you have any questions about approach to children’s dental care, then please contact our team today. We want to help you and your family maintain optimal oral health!
